Oslo, NorwayThe Nordic model: work-life balance -a trap or an opportunity?
In the Nordic countries women's and men's employment rates are almost identical. With the ageing population, women and men at midlife are increasingly involved in taking care of their own parents, while still caring for their children and working outside the home. These individuals are "sandwiched" between the needs of their children and their parents or other relatives. Thus, work-life issues need to be viewed from a broader perspective.
