Gender Balance in Research in the Nordic Countries - Seminar in Oslo 22 – 23 November 2012.
Norway is the holder of the Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers this year, and has the pleasure to invite you to an expert seminar on gender balance in research in the Nordic countries. The seminar is organized in cooperation with the Nordic Council of Ministers, NordForsk, the Research Council of Norway and the Committee for Gender Balance in Research.
Nordic countries are well known for giving high priority to gender equality. Within research and higher education, however, horizontal and vertical gender segregation is clearly visible. A central issue is the low percentage of women in higher academic positions.
The statistics show that there are some interesting differences between the countries, and we also see that the countries have different strategies for improving gender balance in research. The seminar will examine these questions more deeply.
A report on gender balance in Nordic research will be presented and discussed.
A dinner is held on 22 November at the Hotel Continental, Stortingsgaten 24/26, Oslo.
The seminar takes place on 23 November 09:00 – 15:00 at the Thon Hotel Opera, Dronning Eufemias gate 4, Oslo.
The venue is located close to the Oslo Central Station and the Airport Express Train Terminal.
